The President’s Leadership Scholarship covers 90 percent of tuition costs and is awarded to up to two students each year. Three current students have managed to maintain the required standards for the scholarship: Mindaugas Jocius (Lithuania), Aušrinė Stankevičiūtė (Lithuania), and Ieva Grantina (Latvia).

Aušrinė: After successfully finishing my first year at LCC I feel a whole lot more confident about myself and my abilities. I worked hard solely for my own personal satisfaction which I find far more rewarding than any award or title. There is no formula for success, no lucky charm to wear, no shortcut to take. You are the key to your success. Success is not meant to be achieved easily, and certainly not without failure, but it is sweet and it is worth it. I enjoy studying at LCC because I often feel like I am a part of something bigger than myself; a tightly-knit community that puts a great deal of value into its members and weaves life-long bonds among them.

Ieva: I still find it hard to believe that I actually received the scholarship. I do not think that there is a recipe for academic success: the most important thing is to love what you do. This semester I am taking part in the Erasmus program, so currently I am studying in Kuopio, Finland, at Savonia University of Applied Sciences. Though, I really appreciate the community of LCC. I can honestly say that LCC feels like my second home after only one year of study.

Mindaugas: (his picture is at the top of the article) I have happily been a recipient of this scholarship for three consecutive years. A key to academic success is to enjoy what you study; this is the foundation for everything in life. Now I work in the Human Resources department, where I help our LCC expatriate faculty and staff to get settled, and to deal with their day-to-day life challenges. Aside from the LCC job, I also run my own small business, and work on internet marketing projects in two other companies. I believe that academic success is only a part of the whole deal, and not the only thing that determines future success. Nonetheless, it really helps to connect the dots, and have a strong basis for personal and professional growth in the future.
